The link in my earlier post is a job advertisement which clearly states that EAD folks need not apply. There are 1000s of folks out there who are eligible for that position, but for the EAD restriction.
My question is -
what are these "1000s of folks" doing? Are they waiting for someone else to work for their cause?
If they believe they were wronged, they need to take action. Without any action, nothing is going to happen.
And, yes, these is discrimination on the both side of the lines. Have you looked at the hiring practices of leading desi outsourcing/consulting companies in the US?

And worst is the lottery...What pisses me off is that there are 220,000 visa numbers every year for family based GCs while skilled immigrants get only 140,000. Nothing wrong with immigrants wanting to bring immediate family members but this is causing nothing but chain migration. I think USA give more GCs to cab drivers than skilled immigrants.

So you are laid off so what is the big deal? You should be able to negotiate somehow or escape layoffs by doing something or the other. There are people in my company who survived 6 layoffs. Your layoff is your problem and nothing is fair in the globalization.

I think we should go to USCIS/DOS office. But problem is we have to do this on weekdays and most of member won't be join on weekdays because of work.
If we do on weekend then we will get more response but then offices will be closed unless they working on weekend as they did last weekend.
Are you serious? If people are so much interested in getting a GC and would like to make an impact, a day's work should not be a big deal. Forget the weekend stuff as DC streets have no federal government business on weekends. There are some guys who are willing to drive from NY/NJ/NC.
Even if we take the poll and lets say 500 people would like to come, that number will become 250 or less as most of us will have last minute issues as usual :p

that Senior Members would be more involved in posting on this website. It makes a lot of difference if core members who have a closer perspective of the truth could respond to some questions on these threads. No response, in my opinion only helps in making the website dead and promotes unproductive arguments and squabbles here.
It is "good" that they are not talking. That means they are working harder and something good is expected to happen.
If there is more talk then outcome is less. This is my experience from past one plus year from IV and other immigration forums. When everyone get "too much" excited and keep posting madly about some "immature deal", at the end of the day nothing "concrete" is achived.
Let IV do their work. I am hopeful something "good" will happen in near future.

When we tried to schedule infopass (for sep) we found only one are two dates and appointments start from 6 AM. Is this correct? Will the office be open so early? We got a slot at 7.30 AM.
Also once you book an appoinment, I see only 'cancel' option, how to get to modify option?

i know for a fact that 2 of my friends who were stuck in namecheck and had current PD got their GC approval emails 3-4 days after the rule was passed. I have EB3 PD of mid 2002 and was stuck in NC for 3+ years, i got a soft LUD one week after the rule was passed. it was the first LUD after 2 years.
NC was hell and i hope people dont go through what we went.

from 485 receipt date. Nobody knows when USCIS will initiate FBI Name
Check. So I see a big playground for USCIS to play if it decides to play.
What if uSCIS sends FBI name check initiation after 2 years of 485 receipt?
Do we have a way to know or keep an eye on USCIS about this? At least I
do not know and if somebody has the information please share it.
(2) "If 485 Otherwise is processable" then USCIS can go ahead without
waiting for NC check... What if USCIS decides to keep 100000 cases on
rack eating dust just by not moving the processing date for particular
service center? This you can see right now.. USCIS is making Texas slow
day by day not moving processing date. I remember Texas was ahead
with comparison to Nebraska around May to August 2007. If this happens your case is no more "processable".. Yes you can say that you are not stuck in NC queue but you will be stuck. USCIS may come up with altogether different startegy... To align processing times with FBI processing and FBI NC initiation. That may screw the things further.

I have a bad feeling about IVs goals. Are you only concerned about getting the GC backlogs cleared? or are you going to be asking for H1b related issues to be addressed too? eg:- H1b renewal after the 6th year is an issue any moron could easily understand and pass. That has been there for many years and should continue for a successful H1b program. Please take care of that issue too. I dont see that included in the letter you have prepared to be sent out to all the senators. Please do that urgently. This is a very techinical issue and can easily be campaingned for. Pls dont ignore it.
If the number 3 in the letter has something to do with H1b renewal, pls reword it and make it clear, however, Idont believe its related to h1b renewal atall.
Please include atleast H1b renewal, one good thing about h1 that all of you have/currently are enjoying, to be included as one of your/our major demands. For those of you joining us late, here is some info about this thread.
1. This is to do our least part to the core IV Team for their selfless sacrifice, for all of us getting the benefits of legal immigration. Note that , Aman Kapoor , the co-founder of IV has done his part by sacrificing $64,000/- from his own personal funds towards the administrative costs of IV. Yes you read it right , it is $64,000/- We come to know from his co-worker that he has sold his house towards running this show for us.
2. We have not yet figured out a way to reimburse these costs as IV does not yet have administrative costs part of the expenditure allocation, as we understand it. So instead of a wait and watch, we decided to go ahead with collecting the pledge from the members on the amount they are putting forth for reimbursing the amount. Once we come up with a strategy(members we look for your suggestions on how to get this done, please add your comments) we will instruct the members pledged to pay out.
So do not pay it directly to the IV core funds, yet.
Please help us spread the message about this thread in other threads by copy and pasting the following in other threads too.

Our law firm (Fragomen) actually sent someone directly to Nebraska on Sunday evening to file the docs at the USCIS office there...They filed Monday early AM.
